NOC Engineer

Q-Free Sweden is looking for a NOC Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Solna. In this role, you will be a contributor in our 24/7 operations, monitoring, operating and maintaining infrastructure supporting tolling and traffic solutions. The role requires working in rotating shifts and ensuring high availability, performance, and security of primarily Linux-based systems. The engineer is also expected explore the possibility to automate operational tasks through scripting in Python or Java.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor network systems, servers, and services in real time using NOC tools
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, outages, and performance issues
  • Perform routine system administration on Linux-based environments
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate teams following defined procedures
  • Create tickets in JIRA when neccessery and to follow-up these tickets
  • Maintain system uptime and ensure SLA compliance
  • Be able to suggest improvements to existing instructions and to document incidents and procedures.
  • Collaborate with sevice and development teams in English

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has

  • Strong skills in Linux system administration (e.g., file systems, disc administration, processes, networking, permissions)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience with Service tools for ticket handling (JIRA, Confluence, Remedy, Service now or similar)
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, NetXMS, Prometheus, or similar)

It’s a plus if you also have

  • Basic database knowledge (SQL)
  • Experience with log analysis tools (e.g., ELK stack)
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)
  • Version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Scripting/programming skills in Python (preferred for automation)
  • Scripting/programming skills in Java (for tooling or backend systems)

 

Working hours and setup

This position is part of a rotating shift schedule to ensure 24/7 operations and may include nights, weekends and public holidays. On-call duty may also be required. Ability to remain alert and effective during extended monitoring periods.

  • Must be comfortable working in a 24/7 operational environment following a rolling schema
  • Self going individual who is comfortable with working most of the time alone

  • Good communication skills in English & Swedish (written and verbal)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3+ years of experience in a NOC, system administration, or similar role
  • Relevant certifications are advantageous (e.g., Linux, networking, cloud)
