As an Engineering Manager / Tech Lead, you will lead our cross-functional engineering organization, spanning backend, mobile and AI squads, working closely with Product and technical leads to drive delivery, technical alignment and team growth across the company. Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver high-performing, cohesive teams that consistently ship robust, scalable solutions aligned with our product vision. You will play a vital role in bridging strategy and execution, mentoring engineers and ensuring our technical direction supports the long-term growth of our products.

Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and People Management: Lead, mentor and grow a cross-functional engineering team, conducting 1:1s, supporting career development and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Technical Direction and Architecture: Partner with senior engineers to drive architectural decisions, ensuring technical choices align with both product goals and long-term scalability, reliability and maintainability.
- Delivery and Execution: Own sprint planning, delivery cycles and execution across backend, mobile and AI squads, ensuring the team consistently ships high-quality solutions on time.
- Cross-Squad Alignment: Operate transversally across backend, mobile and AI squads, ensuring technical consistency, shared standards and coordinated delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, UI/UX and AI teams to translate roadmap priorities into actionable engineering plans, while removing blockers and aligning stakeholders.
- Engineering Standards and Processes: Define and evolve engineering best practices, code review standards, documentation, release processes and incident management protocols.
- Hiring and Onboarding: Lead the recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new engineers, building a high-performing team that scales with the company.
- Technical Contribution: Stay hands-on where it matters most. Contribute to code reviews, architectural discussions and critical technical decisions to maintain deep context of the codebase and systems.
- Performance and Reliability: Ensure the team delivers performant, secure and reliable systems, setting clear expectations around observability, quality and operational excellence.
- Innovation and Continuous Learning: Keep up with the latest trends in backend, cloud and AI engineering practices, championing innovation and enabling the team to adopt new technologies thoughtfully.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
- Professional Experience: Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead or Staff Engineer with people management responsibilities. Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on background in software engineering, with deep expertise in at least one domain (AI/ML or backend preferred, given our current technical focus) and solid working knowledge across the others. Experience with cloud services and modern engineering practices.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers at different seniority levels and drive delivery in fast-paced environments.
- Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Portuguese and English.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with modern AI/ML systems & infrastructure (computer vision, real-time inference pipelines, model serving, GPU workloads, etc).
- Experience with Node.js and NestJS (or similar technologies)
- Hands-on experience with GCP (Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud Tasks, Memorystore) or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Experience with mobile development contexts (iOS, Android, React Native) or coordinating with mobile squads.
- Background in agile methodologies and modern engineering practices (code review culture, trunk-based development, SLOs/SLIs, incident management).
- Experience hiring, onboarding and scaling engineering teams.
- Background in startups or scale-ups, with comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities.
