About The Role

What Will You Do? 🦾

Our technology team is developing innovative solutions to help service providers optimize business management. With ongoing investments in R&D and a focus on AI-driven product features, we are expanding our engineering team to evolve our core product, SmartCRS.

As a Software Engineer, you will work hands-on with both legacy and new systems, taking ownership of the monolithic Java application and gradually transforming it into modern microservices (Java or Typescript). You will contribute to API design, backend services, and user-facing applications while working on AI-powered features to maximize hotel sales and user profiling. You will also proactively collaborate on light DevOps tasks and infrastructure challenges, ensuring smooth operation and scalability of our platform.

We are a young Agile team currently refining our processes. We’ve recently started implementing Scrum and we are looking for someone who doesn’t just follow a ticket, but helps us build a world-class engineering culture. You’ll have a seat at the table to help us optimize how we work, not just what we build.

You will work closely with a small, dynamic cross-functional team to design, build, and maintain features that directly impact our clients, while managing system reliability and production issues in a fast-paced environment.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Working alongside the original architects to strategically decompose our Java monolith into modern microservices (Java or TypeScript), contributing to design, development, and integration of scalable solutions.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining REST APIs and backend services
• Taking end-to-end ownership of new product features in SmartCRS, including AI-driven tools for hotel sales optimization, personalized booking engine experiences, and automated data processing (e.g., PDF listing ingestion)
• Collaborating with frontend, QA, and PO teams to ensure high-quality integration and delivery
• Troubleshooting production issues, managing failures, and ensuring system reliability
• Participating in light DevOps and infrastructure tasks on AWS, learning and applying best practices where needed
• Working with SQL relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and supporting AI/ML workflows
• Applying AI/LLM tools in development, data processing, and product features
• Proactively proposing improvements, exploring innovative solutions, and handling technical challenges in a fast-paced environment
  
  

What Are We Looking For? 👀

• Strong experience in Java and/or Typescript development, with deep expertise in at least one and working familiarity with the other
• Hands-on attitude: willing to “get your hands dirty” and take ownership of legacy systems
• Experience or interest in microservices, event-driven architecture, and API design
• Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ability to write robust queries
• Some DevOps skills and willingness to work on infrastructure as needed (AWS knowledge is a plus)
• Experience working with AI-powered applications for personalization and automation
• AI/ML awareness and ability to apply tools to solve business problems
• Problem-solving mindset, able to manage production issues and system failures
• Fluent in Italian; English is a plus
• Experience or interest in the hospitality industry is highly valued
