Computer Aided Design Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and modifying detailed CAD models(2D & 3D) from sketches, models, layouts or notes.
  • Checks drawing versus the project inputs for correctness and conformance to standards.
  • Works with Designers/Engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and print package documentation.
  • Create 3D CAD models of products.
  • Create 2D working drawings of product components
  • Create Acrobat files of 2D Product Drawings.
  • Update drawings as directed by Engineer.
  • Disciplined record keeping and maintenance of drawings and files.
  • Develop CAD standard and provide training of same to design team


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Requires min. HETAC level 6 in Technical, Science or Engineering discipline or Senior Trades Qualification.
  • AutoDesk Inventor experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in a modern design environment with previous experience in some of the following: 3D CAD (AutoDesk Inventor preferred), generation of 2D working drawings, tolerancing, detailing, BOM generation 3D printing, use of / editing of macros to automate repetitive CAD tasks.
  • Ability to work on own with minimum supervision.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
