3D Animator

Job Purpose:

The 3D Animator will read through scripts and speak with project managers and clients to understand project needs, create storyboards and animations, and assist in the editing process. He/she should be collaborative, knowledgeable, and reliable.

He/she should be adaptable, creative, and receptive to direction. Should have strong communication, interpersonal, and technology skills.

He/she is expected to design with limited supervision and with independent, strong technical and conceptual ability and has a strong and extensive knowledge of 3D animation and latest design trends including AI.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with client servicing, creative, content, traffic and production team members to brainstorm and understand needs, review scripts, design storyboards, and create and edit 3D animations. This includes the development of original concepts or animations, or the illustration or sketching of ideas, based on client brief, budget and timings
• Using software and other techniques to:
• Texturing: Create high-quality textures using Substance Painter and develop shaders to enhance model details.
• UV Unwrapping: Unwrap and layout UVs in both Blender and Maya for optimal texturing.
• Modeling: Build detailed 3D models in Blender and Maya, including characters, props, and environments
• Retopology: Retopologize models to optimize them for animation and game-ready workflows in Blender and Maya.
• Sculpting: Add intricate details to your models through ZBrush and Blender sculpting workflows.
• Rendering and lighting: Experience with rendering and lighting techniques for both realistic and stylized projects.
• Rigging: Knowledge of rigging and animation workflows, including character rigging, skinning, and weight painting.
• Visual Effects & Compositing: Develop visual effects and compositing for animations using Adobe After Effects.
• Video Editing: Edit and refine animation content using Adobe Premiere Pro
• Photo Editing: Adjust and enhance textures through Photoshop to ensure visual consistency
• Listening to feedback and altering animations to better suit client needs
• Ensuring that the final product aligns with the needs of the client and is delivered on time
• Presenting ideas or the animated piece or creative to clients and internal teams for their approval
• Using creativity and artistic techniques to tell a story or provide information in visual form
• Researching industry trends and developments and learning new applications, maintaining knowledge on the suite of tools used, including Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom
• Conceptualizing and producing a wide range of original interactive graphics for multiple touchpoints, including but not limited to advertising, branding and integrated communication platforms
• Where required, coordinate with suppliers, freelancers or production houses to fulfill tasks, this may include graphic designers, photographers, videographers, retouches, illustrators, animators, 3D artists etc.
• Take on a proactive approach to present ideas that would be well received by clients

Key Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or certificate in computer animation, fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience
• Agency experience preferred
• Ability to create vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator and integrate them into projects in Blender and After Effects.
• Strong capability in moving and optimizing assets between Blender and After Effects for seamless workflows
• Ability to work independently or with a team to develop animations and solve problems.
• Understanding of animation, storytelling, and character development techniques.
