We are looking for a high-energy, Self-Starting Software Developer to join our Melbourne team. This role is focused on supporting and evolving core insurance platforms rating engine. Because our systems handle critical policy and claims data, we need someone who can hit the ground running, navigate complex logic independently, and maintain high standards of data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• System Ownership: Maintain and enhance insurance-specific rating modules built in VB.NET.
• Rapid Integration: Quickly learn the nuances of our specific insurance products and regulatory requirements to provide technical solutions.
• Collaborative Versioning: Utilise GitHub for robust version control, ensuring all changes are documented and peer-reviewed for compliance.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL queries and VB.NET logic to handle high-volume data processing during peak renewal periods.

Required Skills & Experience

• VB.NET Mastery: Deep experience with VB.NET and .NET Framework (WinForms or ASP.NET).
• Git Fluency: Expert-level knowledge of GitHub (branching strategies, pull requests, and history management).
• The "Self-Starter" Factor: A proven track record of joining a project and becoming productive within the first two weeks with minimal hand-holding.
• Melbourne Based: You must reside in the Melbourne area for regular team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

* Java Experience: A significant advantage, as we are looking to bridge our legacy VB.NET services with newer Java-based microservices.

* Insurance Domain Knowledge: Prior experience with General Insurance, Broking, or Actuarial systems is a massive plus.

* SQL Server: Strong T-SQL skills for managing complex policy databases.
