QA Engineer (Frontend)

The Role

We are looking for a Quality Engineer who think beyond test execution and act as true partners in building high-quality systems. You will join a cross-functional team composed of engineers and a QA/QE, reporting to an Engineering Manager, and play a critical role in shaping how quality is built, validated, and sustained as our platform scales globally.

This role is not about “just writing tests”. It’s about understanding how the system works end-to-end, identifying where failures are most likely to happen, and influencing engineering decisions early to reduce risk and improve customer experience.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in complex, fast-paced software development environments where time-to-market and quality are critical.
• Strong ability to understand systems end-to-end, including high-level architecture, key data flows, and how different components interact.
• Demonstrable experience with both manual and automated testing, knowing when each approach adds the most value.
• Ability to clearly define what “correct” looks like beyond the UI, including backend behavior, data integrity, and system consistency.
• Experience debugging at a basic to intermediate level, including reading logs, understanding error messages, and correlating events across systems.
• Capability to identify where a defect is most likely to live (frontend, API, configuration, infrastructure, or data) and reduce the blast radius.
• Proven track record of writing high-quality, actionable bug reports that help engineers resolve issues efficiently.
• Hands-on experience contributing to an automation strategy, including deciding:
• What should be automated and at which layer (unit, API, integration, end-to-end)
• What should not be automated
• How to minimize flaky tests
• Experience writing and maintaining automated test suites and scripts.
• Working knowledge of at least one development language such as Java, JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, Kotlin, Swift, Python, etc..
• Solid experience testing service-oriented and distributed architectures, with a clear understanding of data flow.
• Strong experience testing at the API layer (e.g. REST, GraphQL).
• Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and build/configuration tools such as Buildkite, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Ability to challenge risky changes, ask thoughtful and sometimes uncomfortable questions, and influence decisions early.
• Proven experience acting as a quality advisor, advocating for shift-left testing and shared ownership of quality.
• Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product, and other stakeholders.
