About Spacebackend

Spacebackend revolutionizes system integration in the aerospace industry through AI-driven interoperability across various hardware components. Our product, Lynapse, streamlines the satellite integration workflow by enabling modular integration across payloads, subsystems, and COTS. Our core technology transforms hardware specifications into digital twins and automatically generates, tests, and validates hardware-agnostic and OS-agnostic on-board satellite middleware.

Role Overview

As a C/C++/Python Software Engineer, you will architect and build end-to-end solutions for our core infrastructure - the Lynapse SDK. You will be responsible for developing a high-level framework that translates digital models (derived from hardware interface specifications) into functional, high-performance middleware and drivers. Your role is critical in bridging AI-driven design with reliable execution on diverse hardware targets, ensuring all generated components are rigorously validated through a custom simulation-based framework.

What You’ll Do

System Architecture & Roadmap

  1. Define and evolve the SDK software architecture spanning on-board middleware, hardware simulation frameworks, and engineering tooling.
  2. Own the SDK roadmap: prioritize features, set milestones, and align technical plans with business objectives.
  3. Design and architect interfaces between AI/ML models and application infrastructure, including APIs and data pipelines.
  4. Write technical documentation including PDR, CDR, product requirements, and solution architecture.

Hands-On Development & Simulation

  1. Implement core modules in C/C++ and Python, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  2. Develop and maintain a simulation-based framework to test and validate generated middleware and driver components.
  3. Architect and develop the SDK/API for integration of core technology into 3rd party products and mission-critical workflows.

Infrastructure & Best Practices

  1. Establish DevOps pipelines (CI/CD, automated testing, container orchestration) across cloud and on-prem environments.
  2. Promote design patterns, coding standards, and architecture reviews to ensure scalable, modular solutions.
  3. Involved in mentoring, roadmap planning, and coordination of R&D across product phases.
For Whom We Are Looking
  • Architectural Depth: You have strong experience designing end-to-end systems, from embedded software to enterprise solutions.
  • Hands-On Mentor: You remain an active coder in C, C++, and Python while coaching others and driving best practices.
  • Systems Expert: You understand the complexities of building software that must run reliably across Linux and RTOS-based environments.
  • Collaborative Visionary: You work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams involving AI research, embedded systems, and cloud technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, EE, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional software development with 2+ years in software architecture or technical leadership.
  • Deep proficiency in C and C++, particularly in embedded or hardware-interfacing contexts.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience coding in Python for infrastructure or tooling.
  • Proven track record in Software Architecting, Design Patterns, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) approaches.
  • Experience with digital-twin frameworks or simulation tools.
  • Hands-on embedded firmware development.
What We Offer
  • Salary + Stock Options Package.
  • Flexible hours & On-Site work in Belval, Luxembourg.
  • Career path to technical executive roles.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of aerospace integration technologies.
