Cyber Security Specialist

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer / Specialist for our close clients at a federal government agency for a 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extensions.

Location: Canberra, ACT

About the Role:

Join a team safeguarding Australia’s critical government systems and data. As a Cyber Security Engineer / Specialist, you will work on both current and upcoming projects, helping strengthen the agency’s cyber defence posture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, monitor, and maintain secure networks and systems.
• Respond to cyber threats, incidents, and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and penetration tests.
• Advise on and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to enhance security.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in cybersecurity engineering, threat analysis, or information security.
• Knowledge of Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) guidelines and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, cloud security, and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, Windows/Linux environments, and application security.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar are highly regarded.
