Graduate UI Engineer

Artisan Digital is a Melbourne-based UX/UI and front-end engineering consultancy. We partner with startups and enterprise organisations to design and build high-quality, highly transactional digital applications.

We operate as product partners — not a traditional agency — delivering scalable design systems and production-ready interfaces across modern web platforms.

We’re hiring a Graduate UI Engineer to join our team.

This role sits at the intersection of design and code. You’ll work closely with designers and engineers to build polished, scalable user interfaces using modern front-end technologies.

You’ll contribute to:

• Building UI components using JavaScript, React, HTML & SASS
• Translating Figma designs into clean, maintainable code
• Supporting scalable design systems
• Refining responsive behaviour and cross-browser compatibility
• Collaborating with internal teams and client developers

Hybrid working model (Mentone office + WFH flexibility).

This is a graduate role. Commercial experience is not essential.

However, candidates with 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships, agency work, freelance or junior roles) will be highly regarded.

Essential

• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript, React, HTML & CSS
• Understanding of responsive and component-based UI development
• Ability to work within existing codebases
• Awareness of industry design systems (Material, Fluent, Apple HIG, etc.)
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Full-time Australian working rights (ongoing)

Nice to Have

• Figma design or prototyping capability
• Exposure to Git workflows
• Basic understanding of accessibility standards

A folio link is mandatory.

We’re looking for strong visual judgment, attention to detail, and evidence of UI capability. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
