Your role

The PhD student will contribute to the European project AutHUMate by researching adaptive, human-centered interaction strategies for advanced driver assistance and automated driving systems. Based at SnT, the student will develop and evaluate driver-in-context models using multimodal data to assess driver readiness, trust, and appropriate system use. The PhD work will support AI-based adaptive communication and training concepts and include validation in simulator-based and real-world settings. The student will collaborate closely with academic and industrial partners, contribute to cross-work-package integration, and disseminate results through publications and project activities. The successful candidate will join the UBIX Research Group, led by Prof. Raphaël Frank.

You will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Carrying out research in the predefined areas
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications
  • Communicate and interact with the AuTHUMate project team and report results
  • Implement and open-source proof-of-concept software tools

Your profile

Qualification: The candidate should hold an MSc degree or equivalent in Computer Science or any related engineering discipline.

Experience: The candidate should have some knowledge and/or experience in several of the following topics (ordered by importance):

  • Automated Driving Systems
  • Vision Language Models
  • Computer Vision
  • Robotics
  • Machine Learning
  • Communication Systems
  • Control Systems

Language Requirements:
