Position Title: UX/UI Designer (Federal Program)

Location: Remote Role

Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance

Position Status: Contract 

Position Description:

Seneca Resources is seeking a UX/UI Designer to support an ongoing Federal program. This role focuses on user-centered design, research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver accessible, intuitive, and standards-compliant digital experiences. The position is currently remote, with the option to work from the Tysons, VA office in the future or remain remote within the United States.

The UX/UI Designer will participate in the full design lifecycle—from user research and ideation to prototyping and developer handoff—while ensuring alignment with accessibility, usability, and federal compliance standards.

Required Skills / Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • 2–4 years of professional UX/UI design experience (HCI coursework strongly preferred)

  • Portfolio demonstrating UX research methods and end-to-end UI/UX design work

  • Strong knowledge of human-computer interaction principles and usability best practices

  • Hands-on experience conducting user research and applying design thinking methodologies

  • Ability to translate research insights, user feedback, and business requirements into actionable design solutions

  • Experience creating low-fidelity wireframes through high-fidelity interactive prototypes

  • Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms

  • Experience organizing and preparing design assets for developer handoff using tools like Zeplin

  • Familiarity with responsive web design to support cross-browser and cross-device compatibility

  • Knowledge of design systems and ability to follow and maintain existing style guides

  • Basic understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 to support effective collaboration with developers

  • Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines with minimal supervision

Nice to Have:
  • Experience supporting public sector or federal technology modernization initiatives
