Full-Stack AI Engineer
Location: Sydney (on-site)
Employment type: Full-time, permanent
Industry: Insurance / Financial Services
Salary: $160,000-200,000 + super + bonus
The Opportunity
A leading insurance organisation is building AI capability that goes beyond experimentation and proof-of-concept. This role exists to deliver AI-powered applications into production and make them stick.
We are looking for a Full-Stack AI Engineer with a demonstrated track record of taking AI solutions from idea through to live, business-critical use. You will work across the full lifecycle of AI products, building applications that are embedded into real workflows and used by real teams.
This is not a research role and not an exploratory lab environment. The expectation is delivery, adoption, and measurable impact.
What you’ll be working on
- You will design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications that solve concrete business problems across claims, operations, customer experience, and internal productivity.
- You will productionise AI solutions using large language models, automation frameworks, and traditional machine learning techniques.
- You will build and maintain data pipelines and services that support AI workflows using structured and unstructured data.
- You will develop front-end interfaces that allow non-technical users to safely and effectively interact with AI systems.
- You will integrate AI capabilities into existing enterprise platforms and business systems.
- You will take responsibility for hardening solutions for scale, reliability, security, and ongoing use.
- You will work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions align to operational and commercial outcomes.
What success looks like
- AI applications you build are live in production environments.
- Solutions are actively used by the business, not parked after demos.
- AI functionality is embedded into workflows rather than running as standalone tools.
- Stakeholders trust the outputs and understand how to use them.
- You are recognised as someone who can reliably ship AI, not just prototype it.
Must-have experience
- You have a proven track record of successfully delivering AI applications into production environments.
- You can clearly demonstrate examples where AI solutions you built were adopted and used by real users.
- You understand the engineering, operational, and organisational challenges of moving AI from prototype to production.
- You have experience owning AI systems post-launch, including iteration, reliability, and improvement.
Skills and experience
- Strong programming experience in Python, with the ability to work across the full stack.
- Experience building and deploying AI or ML solutions in real-world, production settings.
- Hands-on experience with large language models, AI agents, copilots, or automation-driven AI use cases.
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to build front-end components using modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Strong judgement around trade-offs between speed of delivery and production-grade engineering.
- Experience in regulated or enterprise environments is beneficial but not essential.
Who this role will suit
- You enjoy end-to-end ownership and accountability.
- You prefer shipping over theorising.
- You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and making pragmatic decisions.
- You can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You care about outcomes, adoption, and long-term value.
Why join
- You’ll join a business that is serious about deploying AI at scale.
- You’ll work on problems with real data, real users, and real consequences.
- You’ll have visibility, autonomy, and the chance to shape how AI is used across a large organisation.
- You’ll be measured on impact, not experimentation alone.
