Role Purpose

We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer. In this role, you will for take ownership of our data platform and infrastructure. You will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our databases and data warehouse, while setting standards and best practices for the wider team. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and platform ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and operate production, development, and reporting databases (Postgres)
• Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines from various systems into Snowflake
• Manage and optimise Snowflake infrastructure, including performance and cost
• Review and optimise SQL queries, data models, and workloads across the platform
• Ensure the data infrastructure scales with growing data volumes and usage
• Own database and data warehouse security, including roles, permissions, and access controls
• Set standards and best practices for data engineering, performance, and reliability
• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
• Mentor and support other data engineers
• Work closely with analytics, engineering, and leadership on data strategy
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
• Deep expertise in SQL and relational databases (Postgres strongly preferred)
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (or similar cloud data warehouse)
• Proven experience designing and maintaining production-grade data pipelines
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimisation
• Experience managing data access, security, and governance
• Comfortable owning critical systems in a production environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
