Senior Application Engineer – Wireless Systems

Our client is a long-established semiconductor company based in the canton of Neuchâtel, developing ultra-low-power integrated circuits for battery-operated and energy-efficient applications across industrial and consumer markets. It operates in a highly technical, international environment with close collaboration between R&D, product management and application engineering teams.


The role

You will develop advanced wireless applications and reference designs based on the company’s SoC platforms. You act as a technical bridge between R&D, Product Management and customers, supporting complex use cases and enabling successful deployment of wireless solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on position combining embedded software development, hardware interaction and customer-facing technical support.


Main responsibilities

– Develop advanced wireless applications (Bluetooth Low Energy and related protocols), including firmware, hardware interaction and validation

– Define and maintain application-specific platforms (demo kits, SDK adaptations, reference designs and demo use cases)

– Perform competitive benchmarking and technical analysis

– Interface with R&D and Product Management to define and implement application-specific features

– Support deployment of advanced application use cases for strategic customers

– Train Field Application Engineers (FAE) and provide direct technical support

– Participate in project reviews and technical roadmap discussions

– Produce regular technical reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly)

– Contribute actively to team meetings and cross-functional coordination


Technical scope

– Embedded firmware development for radio controllers and stack-based systems

– Development and testing of device drivers (radio, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, timers, RTC, etc.)

– Real-time systems based on RTOS or equivalent schedulers

– Integration on SoC, MCU and ASIC platforms

– System-level troubleshooting (hardware and software) using laboratory equipment

Profile required– Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s level preferred)

– Minimum 8 years of experience in embedded software development– Strong programming skills in C/C++, Assembly and Python– Solid experience with RTOS or real-time schedulers– Proven experience in wireless embedded systems for semiconductor platforms

– Firmware development experience for radio controllers and communication stacks

– Knowledge of wireless protocols: Bluetooth Low Energy, IEEE 802.15.4 and proprietary protocols


Tools and technologies

Development tools and platforms will be aligned with the selected candidate’s profile and project scope. Additional internal tools will be learned on the job.


Languages: English: fluent (daily working language)
