The Company

This global Renewable Energy IPP is entering one of the most ambitious growth phases in its history. With more than 200 employees and a proven portfolio exceeding 2GW of operating capacity, the business has established itself as a credible force in utility‑scale clean energy.

Backed by over $1 billion in operating assets and a development pipeline valued at more than $2 billion, the company is now investing heavily in the Asia Pacific region as a core market for long‑term expansion. Their vision is bold: to become one of the leading developers, owners, and operators of large‑scale Solar and BESS assets across APAC — delivering high‑quality projects from early‑stage greenfield all the way through to FID and construction mobilisation.

To realise this ambition, the company is making a significant commitment to growing its regional capabilities. Over the next four years, they plan to expand their APAC Development, Design, and Delivery organisation from 10 specialists today to more than 50 highly skilled professionals. This includes strengthening technical excellence, accelerating project origination, and building a leadership team capable of guiding multiple gigawatts of development.

This is a rare opportunity to join a well‑capitalised and globally respected IPP at a moment of genuine transformation — shaping the strategic direction and building the high‑performance teams that will deliver some of the region’s most important renewable energy projects.

The company now seeks a CEO, Asia Pacific to lead this next era.

Key responsibilities now include:

  • Lead the origination, evaluation, and development of multi‑GW Solar & BESS opportunities
  • Oversee every development stage: land, permitting, environmental approvals, grid connection strategy and applications, engineering progression, and FID readiness
  • Direct the end‑to‑end grid process — including early‑stage grid feasibility, connection studies, utility engagement, and technical/economic optimisation of connection solutions
  • Shape and deliver a 3–5 year APAC growth strategy
  • Build, structure, and scale local teams, JV partnerships, and project entities
  • Recruit and lead a high-performance development and engineering team
  • Manage cross‑functional inputs across grid, technical, legal, finance, H&S, and external advisors
  • Build senior-level relationships with regulators, utilities, network service providers, landowners, and developers
  • Solve complex development bottlenecks, particularly around grid constraints, connection risks, and network access
  • Report consistently and clearly to the Global Board

The Person

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Law, or related
  • Proven experience taking Solar and/or BESS projects from greenfield through to FID, including leading multi‑discipline project teams
  • Strong experience navigating the grid connection lifecycle in Australia or New Zealand, including:
  • Preliminary grid studies and feasibility
  • Connection application processes (AEMO, NSPs, Transpower, etc.)
  • Negotiating technical requirements, performance standards, and connection agreements
  • Managing consultants, grid engineers, OEMs, and network stakeholders
  • At least 5 years’ experience in utility‑scale Solar or BESS development or delivery
  • Strong networks across developers, EPCs, OEMs, utilities, regulators, and advisors
  • Ability to build, inspire, and lead high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial, technical, and regulatory understanding
  • Capability to operate confidently at Executive and Board level
  • English fluency
