About the Company

My client is a well-established healthcare software company building platforms that hospitals and clinicians across Europe rely on to track treatments, analyse outcomes, and reduce administrative burden. Their products collect and manage disease-specific clinical data, helping improve patient care and operational efficiency.

They are currently undergoing a full platform modernisation, including software, infrastructure, and deployment workflows, while integrating AI-assisted tools to improve engineering processes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Platform Developer to work across both software development and platform/cloud engineering. This is a truly hybrid role: roughly half coding and half cloud/platform/automation.

The role is highly impactful: you will help modernise legacy systems, build new platform components, improve Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), automate Terraform infrastructure, and drive deployment automation for multiple healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Modernisation

  • Develop new features and modules for the medical data platform
  • Modernise legacy systems (Java 7, Grails → modern frameworks)
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, and architecture improvement
  • Improve application modularity, stability, and maintainability

Platform & Cloud Engineering (Azure + AKS)

  • Maintain and improve AKS clusters
  • Enhance observability, security, and resiliency of platform components
  • Support developers in running services reliably on cloud platforms

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

  • Simplify and restructure Terraform environments
  • Build reusable Terraform modules and improve state management
  • Automate provisioning for multiple customer/hospital environments

Deployment Automation

  • Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines
  • Enable safe, predictable rollouts across healthcare environments
  • Move the organisation towards self-service, fully automated deployment workflows

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years professional software engineering experience
  • Strong experience across backend development and DevOps/cloud engineering
  • Solid understanding of Azure and Kubernetes (AKS)
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform
  • Proven experience modernising or migrating legacy systems
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools (for code, refactoring, or architecture)
  • Ability to simplify complex systems and drive long-term technical improvements

Nice to Have

  • Java, Grails, or legacy-to-modern migration experience
  • Experience in regulated industries or healthcare
  • Knowledge of microservices, CI/CD, GitOps, or automation pipelines
  • Interest in platform engineering, internal tooling, or AI-driven development workflows

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • High-impact role with ownership of long-term technical improvements
  • Part of a platform modernisation programme influencing the company’s technical direction
  • Use cutting-edge AI-assisted development tools
  • Opportunity to work in a mission-driven healthcare environment
  • Competitive package, excellent benefits, and hybrid working
