Group Overview

Jefferies’ Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) provides global coverage to 500+ private equity funds and alternative investment firms, partnering across product and industry teams to deliver the full breadth of Jefferies’ M&A, leveraged finance, and equity capabilities. The team is led by senior bankers across New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London, offering Analysts a uniquely broad platform and access to highly active private equity clients

Role Overview

As an Investment Banking Analyst, you play a central role in supporting the firm’s private‑equity coverage effort. The position offers significant exposure to senior bankers, extensive interaction with private equity clients, and hands‑on experience across live M&A and leveraged finance transactions. Analysts operate within a lean deal-team structure, giving them the opportunity to meaningfully contribute from day one, build technical depth, and develop a strong understanding of sponsor‑driven deal dynamics. Analysts regularly collaborate with product partners, including M&A, industry groups, and capital markets teams, gaining broad exposure to transaction types, valuation, financing structures, and strategic advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior bankers in identifying revenue opportunities and tracking market trends for private equity clients.
  • Maintain proprietary databases tracking sponsor portfolios, fundraising activity, and market opportunities.
  • Prepare strategic buyer lists for M&A pitches and mandates.
  • Serve as a deal team analyst on M&A and leveraged finance transactions (e.g., CIMs, lender presentations, offering memoranda).
  • Create FSG marketing materials and assist with client meetings, pitches, and follow‑ups.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of investment banking, consulting, or financial services experience.
  • Strong analytical capability and proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and presentation-building.
  • Ability to manage complex data, maintain proprietary databases, and distill insights for senior bankers.
  • Strong technical, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and operate independently in a fast‑paced environment.
