About the Role

Join our Chat team, where we are transforming synchronous conversations into a core part of the experience. We are migrating an old private messaging system into lively Chat product while building new features that solve user problems and bring delight to first-time Chat users.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality products, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to product and business strategies. You’ll be part of a high-impact team working on innovative solutions that shape Chat experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Quality at Speed: Develop and deploy new backend systems, balancing rapid development with robust performance and reliability.
• Collaborate Strategically: Actively contribute to team strategies and planning, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with product managers and designers to deliver seamless and compelling user experiences.
• Build Complex Distributed Systems: Design and implement backend solutions capable of operating under high load.

Qualifications

• Experience:
• 4+ years of backend development experience, spanning databases, networking, and efficient computing.
• Proven ability to design and implement distributed systems operating under high load.
• Experience with customer-facing public applications (preferred).
• Background in chat product development (a plus).
• Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in Golang, GraphQL, and Redis (must-have).
• Familiarity with AWS, Apache Cassandra, Kafka, and real-time systems (nice-to-have).
• Soft Skills:
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and innovation.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of collaborating in remote, cross-functional teams.
