Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer who will design, build, and scale our enterprise data platform ensuring reliable, secure, and high-quality data availability for analytics and AI initiatives. You will combine architectural leadership with hands-on engineering to evolve our data foundations, optimize performance and cost, enforce governance standards, and enable data-driven decision making across the organization. In this role, you will shape the technical direction of our data ecosystem while mentoring others and driving best practices.


Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and operate scalable data platforms (lakehouse/warehouse) and data pipelines supporting analytics and ML use cases
  • Own end-to-end data workflows: ingestion (batch/streaming), transformation, storage, cataloguing, and delivery - ensuring reliability, performance and cost-efficiency
  • Define and improve data architecture, data models, governance, security, and quality standards
  • Take responsibility for the conception, organization and execution of data projects, including pre-sales activities (scoping, solutioning, client advisory)
  • Drive the data engineering roadmap and evaluate new tools/technologies
  • Implement DevOps/DataOps practices: IaC, CI/CD, automation, monitoring
  • Partner with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to turn requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers; lead reviews and best-practice adoption


Requirements

  • 5+ years of Data Engineering experience, owning complex data systems
  • Strong in Python and SQL; experience with Java/Scala/Rust a plus
  • Hands-on cloud data platform expertise (e.g., Azure Synapse, Fabric, Databricks)
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, data governance and security
  • Solid DevOps mindset (Docker/Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, monitoring)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English, German skills are highly appreciated
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project needs


Austria: The law stipulates that the minimum wage must be specified in job postings. The minimum salary is 53.802 euros/year in the collective agreement. Adequate to your skills, we are willing to pay much more.
