Location: Antrim, N.Ireland (hybrid)

Salary £55,000 - £65,000 + equity

Kura is excited to be recruiting a Senior Backend Software Engineer for a fast-growing agri-tech startup that’s transforming how modern farms operate.

Fresh off a successful funding round, you’ll be joining at a pivotal moment - working with a strong, collaborative team, enjoying real autonomy, and helping build momentum in a product that’s scaling quickly.

This platform enables farmers to digitise herd management, meet regulatory requirements with ease, and use real-time data to make smarter, more informed decisions on the farm saving up to 6 hours a week.

Job: Senior Backend Engineer

Joining a small but growing team you will play an individual contributor role in shaping the direction of the backend architecture. This is a great opportunity to make impact in a start-up and the chance to cross-train in Golang if this language is new.

Your responsibilities include:

• Build and ship backend services and APIs end-to-end, from first idea to live in production
• Shape backend architecture and technical direction as the platform evolves
• Own what you build in production - performance, reliability, monitoring, and fixes
• Continuously improve scalability, resilience, and speed as usage grows
• Work closely with product and frontend to move fast and deliver real value
• Raise the bar through code reviews and hands-on support for other engineers

What we’re seeking for in candidates?

• 5+ years backend engineering experience building and operating production systems understanding scalability and reliability
• Experience with Go or similar backend languages (fundamentals over specific tools)
• Experience with APIs, PostgreSQL or similar SQL databases and CI/CD
• Experience with GCP or similar cloud technologies
• You love to problem solve and thrive with ambiguity
• You’re keen to experience a start-up
