We are currently looking for a Data Engineering with strong Azure & Databricks expertise to support a large-scale engineering transformation.


Your Role


As a Data Engineering, you will design, implement and optimize cloud-native data solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a strong focus on Azure Databricks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality data pipelines, models, and analytics solutions.


You will apply modern data engineering practices, automated testing, and solid cloud architecture principles to help our client unlock the full potential of their data platform.


Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Languages: Written & spoken fluency in Dutch AND English (mandatory)
  • Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, including cloud-based data platforms
  • Azure Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Databricks: Proven experience designing and optimizing data pipelines and analytics workloads using Azure Databricks
  • Spark/PySpark: Strong ability to develop and optimize distributed data processing jobs in Databricks
  • SQL: Advanced proficiency in complex SQL queries, performance optimization, and large-scale datasets
  • Data Quality & Migration: Experience ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability in complex data migration or modernization projects
  • ETL/ELT Development: Expertise in designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume and diverse data sources
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and collaboration skills to engage effectively with clients and internal teams
  • Mobility: Ability to work on-site within 1h travel time from Brussels when required


Preferred Skills


  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data platforms
  • Exposure to real-time or streaming data solutions (e.g., Event Hubs, Kafka)
  • Experience in multi-cloud environments (AWS or GCP exposure is a plus)
  • Relevant Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Databricks certifications


What You’ll Do


Core Expertise

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to assess data needs and design efficient Azure-based data solutions
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, Spark, and SQL
  • Implement automated data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring frameworks


Technical Implementation

  • Design and optimize scalable data models and analytics layers on Azure
  • Integrate and process large datasets using Azure Databricks
  • Ensure solutions meet high standards for performance, scalability, security, and maintainability


Research and Innovation

  • Stay up to date with advancements in Azure, Databricks, and modern data engineering practices
  • Proactively suggest improvements in architecture, automation, and governance


Project Management

  • Contribute to or lead data engineering initiatives from design to production
  • Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and analysts to deliver end-to-end data solutions supporting analytics and operational intelligence
