Mission & Product Security Lead – Satellite Systems

ReOrbit is looking for a Mission & Product Security Lead for Satellite Systems.

Role & Authority

You act as Security Manager for missions and ReOrbit satellite systems.

You are responsible for ensuring that ReOrbit satellites meet stakeholder security expectations and mission security requirements across the full lifecycle — from design through launch and operations.

You work closely with program management (missions), customers, engineering, IT, suppliers, and business development, translating security expectations into practical, implemented change across products and processes.

You have responsibility and authorization to approve, block, or require remediation for satellite deliveries, launches, and customer acceptances on security grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Own mission security plans and commitments across design, SW, AIT, launch, and operations.
• Define and manage product security requirements with customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain threat models and mission-specific security risk registers.
• Embed security-by-design into satellite, ground, and manufacturing engineering.
• Assess and manage supply-chain and 3rd party security risks.
• Monitor and respond to product and supply-chain vulnerabilities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards for cybersecurity, space, and protecting classified information.
• Act as a trusted security counterpart to sovereign and classified customers.
  
  

Experience & Background

• 8+ years in cybersecurity, product security, or mission/system security.
• Hands-on experience working with engineering teams in regulated or safety-critical environments.
• Experience owning security risks and requirements and being accountable for them.
• Strong skills in threat modeling, security risk management, and requirements management.
• Solid knowledge of ISO 27001 / ISO 27002, NIS2 or equivalent frameworks.
  
  

Valued Experience

• NIST 800-53 / related NIST standards.
• Requirements for protecting classified information (e.g. KATAKRI, EU/ESA/NATO R/C/S).
• Space security standards (e.g. ECSS-E-ST-80C).
• Aerospace, space, defence, telecom, or similar industries.

Scope & Impact

This is a senior, high-impact role with direct influence on ReOrbit’s satellite missions, customer trust, and security posture. The scope and external engagement of the role will expand as ReOrbit grows, in close collaboration with the Head of Security.

We are strengthening our central Security function and are hiring a Mission & Product Security Lead to act as the security authority for ReOrbit satellite systems, working hands-on with engineering while engaging directly with customers and regulators.

Location: Helsinki, Finland (hybrid)

Travel: As required for customer, supplier, and mission activities.

Reporting to: Head of Security
