Frontend Developer

React Engineer | Melbourne/Sydney, Hybrid | React, TypeScript, UX, HMI | Baseline Clearance

I'm working with an awesome international company, who are looking a solid Frontend Engineer to become the subject-matter expert for UI development across their two main business streams.

This role sits within a growing product engineering team, working closely with R&D, AI/algorithm specialists, seeing you turn prototypes into production-grade software.

You’ll own the frontend engineering capability, guide delivery quality, and work closely with outsourced or offshore development partners as the lead for the UI/UX stream. This is a product-focused role, suited to engineers who have worked on complex HMIs, regulated environments, or user interfaces for high-stakes systems.

React Engineer Responsibilities

• Own frontend development across internal product lines using React and TypeScript
• Translate R&D prototypes into maintainable, scalable production interfaces
• Work with back-end, algorithms, and robotics teams to align UI functionality with product architecture
• Maintain and evolve internal GUI frameworks to achieve consistency across multiple projects
• Provide technical oversight to offshore teams or contractors delivering frontend work
• Collaborate with UX contributors or external UX partners; provide technical direction on design execution
• Participate in software design reviews, testing strategies, and engineering quality improvements
• Contribute to long-term UI architecture, component libraries, and engineering standards

React Engineer Requirements

• Professional experience with React + TypeScript (strong proficiency required)
• Background in product engineering, ideally within regulated or safety-critical industries (medical devices, industrial systems, defense, etc.)
• Experience building HMIs or non-web-commerce UIs (edge, device, control systems interfaces highly regarded)
• Some exposure to UX practices—able to work with UX designers or guide outsourced UX work
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles (testing, design patterns, quality, maintainability)
• Excellent communication skills; comfortable providing technical leadership
• Baseline clearance or ability to obtain one
