As Head of Engineering, you’ll play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of CoinGate’s technology organization. You’ll manage our growing engineering team, oversee product delivery processes, and ensure technical excellence across our systems and infrastructure. Working closely with our CTO, CEO and Product leads, you’ll define how engineering operates across planning, architecture, people and performance.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the entire engineering organization, covering backend, frontend, platform, DevOps, and data (around 15 people today)
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable systems supporting high-volume crypto payment flows
• Establish and continuously improve engineering processes – planning, estimation, QA, releases, and retrospectives – as well as define and enforce standards for code quality, testing, documentation
• Drive architectural evolution: help transition from a primarily Ruby on Rails monolith toward modular services
• Partner closely with the CTO, Product Owners and Lead Engineers to translate product strategy into clear, executable development plans
• Mentor and develop engineers and tech leads, promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and career progression within the engineering team
• Collaborate with DevOps and Data teams to strengthen observability, monitoring, and reliability practices
• Provide clear communication between engineering and other departments, ensuring alignment and transparency within our regulated fintech environment

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role
• Hands-on background with Ruby on Rails (experience with Go and frontend technologies is a strong plus)
• Proven experience managing multiple cross-functional teams in a high-growth tech company
• Strong technical understanding of web architecture, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes)
• Experience introducing engineering processes and scaling teams from 10+ to 25+ engineers
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural goals
• Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated environments is highly preferred

Salary:

6000 – 10000 €/monthly gross.
