United States · Full-time · Associate

My client, a leading fixed income–focused hedge fund, is seeking a strong Developer to join its New York Office.

This is a hands-on, front-footed engineering role within a small, high-impact team responsible for the systems that power trading, risk, operations, and firm-wide data. You’ll work directly with investment professionals and quantitative teams, contributing to mission-critical workflows across the entire trade lifecycle.

The environment is highly technical and collaborative, with deep exposure to fixed income products and the opportunity to influence architecture, own core systems, and expand a modern front-to-back technology stack.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain core systems across a Windows-based technology stack including Python task automation, SQL Server pipelines, Perl/Python Flask services, and internal web applications.
  • Support fixed income trading workflows through the proprietary OMS, ensuring accurate flow of trades, positions, and market data.
  • Manage and enhance security master and market data ingestion pipelines used across trading, risk, and operations.
  • Develop and support a FIX engine to enable Straight-Through Processing (STP) with electronic execution venues.
  • Build and maintain internal web tools used for data delivery, monitoring, and workflow automation (JavaScript, CSS, HTML).
  • Support Advent Geneva processes including automated file uploads, reporting, and database-driven workflows.
  • Work directly with traders, risk managers, and analysts to deliver robust, high-performance tools and data solutions.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant software engineering experience within financial markets or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong C#/Python development experience; proficiency with Excel/VBA.
  • Solid SQL Server expertise (schema design, stored procedures, triggers, performance tuning).
  • Some experience with modern C++ (C++11/14) and ability to contribute to quantitative analytics.
  • Familiarity with web technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) and back-end frameworks (Python Flask / Perl).
  • Ability to write batch/shell scripts and work across diverse systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset suited to a small, high-impact engineering team.

My client anticipates to pay a strong performer upwards of $400k year 1 total compensation package. As well as a market-leading compensation package, they offer exceptional benefits including a top-tier healthcare package, fully subsidised qualifications plus breakfast and lunch paid for each day
