Job Title: Freelance Data Engineer

Location: Helsinki, Finland

Onsite presence: 3 days a week ideal

Contract Type: Freelance / Project-based

Duration: 6–12 months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our client's team on a freelance basis. You will be working with a pioneer in digital protection, known for its commitment to safeguarding individuals and organisations from online threats. The client is requiring two profiles to come in and support on a contract for an internal data project.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize ETL pipelines for large-scale data processing.
• Design and implement data models for analytics and reporting.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across systems.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deliver actionable insights.
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for data storage and processing.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with big data tools (Spark, Hadoop) and data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect).
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with real-time data streaming (Kafka).
• Background in data governance and GDPR compliance.
• Finnish language skills (not mandatory).
