Project Manager

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager to join our client, a forward-thinking general contractor in Surrey that is redefining how commercial construction is delivered. They focus on financial institutions, offices, retail, and restaurants, and are looking for a hands-on Project Manager to lead projects valued between $2M–$10M while helping shape the company’s culture and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead project startup activities: contracts, insurance, WCB notices, bonds, etc.
• Manage project documentation and reporting using Timberline and Microsoft tools (labour, materials, equipment, submittals, schedules, meeting minutes, change orders).
• Interface with subtrades, suppliers, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Collaborate with Site Superintendents to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and budget.
• Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining positive relationships with architects, consultants, and owners.
• Continuously monitor budgets, proactively managing costs and reporting to leadership.
• Prepare monthly progress claims and review/approve subtrade and supplier invoices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experienced: 5–10 years in commercial construction, ideally as a Project Manager or Site Superintendent.
• Knowledgeable: strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and technical requirements.
• Driven & Energetic: takes ownership of projects and pushes initiatives forward with enthusiasm.
• Organized & Financially Focused: meticulous with budgets, reporting, and site organization.
• Personable & Communicative: able to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and teams.
• Independent & Honest: works confidently on your own while owning decisions and outcomes.
• Mobile: willing to travel to sites across BC for meetings and inspections.
• Education: post-secondary technical education in construction or related field (BCIT or equivalent).
