Cyber Security Analyst

The Cyber Security Operations team is tasked with identifying and responding to both domestic and foreign threats targeting critical electoral systems. Currently looking for three (3) Cyber Security Analysts to expand the existing operations team and enhance its capabilities.

The successful candidates will monitor the ICT infrastructure and key electoral systems to help identify and address cybersecurity incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze cybersecurity data to assess and identify the root causes of attacks on the ICT environment and electoral systems.
• Implement necessary cybersecurity measures to counteract attacks and restore normal system operations.
• Collaborate with the internal ICT team and business units to communicate security issues and produce documentation or reports.
• Engage in cyber threat hunting and share threat intelligence across the team.
• Participate in mentoring and training activities as identified.
• Contribute to the creation and refinement of standard operating procedures for cybersecurity incident response.

Mandatory Criteria:

• Proficiency in using Sentinel or a similar SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) solution.
• Knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
• Familiarity with best practice cybersecurity monitoring procedures.
• Experience in responding to cybersecurity incidents.

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous experience in cybersecurity monitoring within, or on behalf of, other federal government organizations.

Other Requirements:

• Must undergo character clearance, including a police check.
• Must have Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
• Political neutrality is essential.
• Must be an Australian citizen.
• Willingness to work shifts, as required, in response to cybersecurity incidents and to support key electoral events (e.g., close of rolls, polling day).
