Project Overview

Kantar has been awarded the audience measurement contract for the Dutch Media industry (Nationaal Media Onderzoek). This project involves delivering audience data for TV viewing, online video, and online browsing through a national panel of households equipped with metering technology. As part of this exciting initiative, we are looking for a DevOps Engineer to maintain our cloud-based systems and ensure the daily delivery of data. This role offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale project and expand it to other Kantar Media operations globally.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Azure resources using Terraform scripts to host mostly internally developed custom software.
  • Deploy systems using Helm charts, .yaml files, and Azure Pipelines to automate processes.
  • Utilize Zabbix for monitoring cloud-based interconnected systems running 24/7, including Kubernetes, Hive, Elasticsearch, Kibana, RabbitMQ, Docker, and Azure Blob Storage.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as backups, monitoring SSL certificates, and managing SAS tokens.
  • Maintain and monitor scalable data processing pipelines using Apache Airflow and Databricks to ensure reliable and efficient data workflows.
  • Manage and oversee production-grade endpoints deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Ensure systems comply with Kantar security and disaster recovery standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Central Cloud Architecture and Support team to learn best practices and report any issues.

Knowledge Required

  • Strong understanding of Azure DevOps flow from both application and infrastructure perspectives.
  • Experience in cloud management, diagnostics, and monitoring with Zabbix or similar tools.
  • Proficiency with Azure Services and Resources such as VMs, NSGs, VNets, Application Gateways, Firewalls, and AKS.
  • Experience with containers (Kubernetes/Elastic Container Service).
  • Solid knowledge of version control and branching strategies.
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools (Terraform deployment, pipeline creation, and troubleshooting).
  • Strong Linux/Unix experience and troubleshooting skills.
  • Network-level infrastructure knowledge, including security best practices.

Good To Have Skills

  • Experience with Azure PaaS Cloud and Hive.
  • Apache airflow and databricks
  • Oracle and SQL Server administration and some SQL experience.
  • Understanding of web core technologies (network, websites, video streaming, browsers) and TV and broadcast delivery.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) as part of a team.
