Salary: $140,000–$150,000 base + super (flexible based on experience)

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Python) to join a collaborative and technically strong team. This role is primarily backend-focused (roughly 80%), where you’ll be building scalable APIs and backend services that integrate with enterprise systems and power the company’s core platform. You’ll work from clearly defined requirements to deliver high-quality, secure backend systems. There’s also room to contribute to front-end projects in React where needed, offering exposure across the full stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in Python
• Model and manage Postgres databases with a focus on performance and scalability
• Ensure secure and efficient data flows between providers and users
• Contribute to code reviews, testing frameworks, and CI/CD processes
• Collaborate with frontend engineers on API integration and occasional React development
• Support DevOps with Kubernetes-based deployments and cloud automation

Tech stack

• Languages: Python (primary), some Java
• Database: Postgres, SQL
• Frontend: React (exposure beneficial)
• Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes

About you

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend/API focus
• Proficient in Python with solid software engineering fundamentals
• Skilled in SQL and experienced with Postgres in production environments
• Confident working in AWS and with containerisation tools like Kubernetes
• Comfortable in fast-paced, scale-up environments with high ownership
• Strong communicator who can deliver from well-defined requirements

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or data product platforms
• Exposure to frontend frameworks (especially React)
• Background in capital markets, fintech, or data-intensive industries
• Prior experience in startup or scale-up environments
