Senior Trader

About the Job:

Independent Reserve Australia is seeking a Senior Trader to join our growing team. This pivotal role will suit a seasoned trading professional with extensive experience in institutional, proprietary, or digital asset trading. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of trading performance, risk management expertise, and the ability to operate independently in fast-moving markets. A deep understanding of cryptocurrency markets, trading strategies, and execution models will be highly valued, along with the ability to mentor and guide junior traders.

In this role, no day is ever the same. Some of the key responsibilities will include:

• Lead trade execution and risk management, ensuring alignment with the firm’s trading strategy and risk framework
• Provide pricing and liquidity to clients, while handling high-value and complex trades
• Develop, implement, and refine trading strategies, leveraging market insights, technical analysis, and macro trends
• Manage and oversee relationships with liquidity providers, exchanges, and key market counterparties to optimize execution and market access
• Ensure accurate trade booking, reconciliation, and reporting, driving operational excellence across the OTC desk
• Contribute to trading infrastructure improvements, including systems, processes, and risk monitoring tools
  
  
  

Experience and Skills we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Business, or a related field
• 5+ years of professional trading experience, ideally in digital assets, FX, or other fast-paced markets
• Hands-on experience with trade booking, reconciliation, and settlement processes in institutional environments
• Strong knowledge of cryptocurrency concepts, including wallets, blockchains, custodians, smart contracts, and stablecoins
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent the desk to both internal and external partners
• Leadership qualities, with prior experience mentoring or overseeing junior traders
