We are looking for a Junior Security Analyst for a freelance project in Brussels, Belgium. The position is Full-Time (5 days p/week) and onsite over an initial duration of 9 Months.

Purpose

The Cybersecurity Analyst will support the Cybersecurity Assessment and Response Team (CART) in cyber incident investigations, security assessments, and policy development to enhance the protection of the Commission's systems, personnel, and assets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Forensics & Incident Response: Conduct investigations on cybersecurity incidents, including in-depth malware analysis to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Penetration Testing: Perform regular vulnerability assessments on Commission web applications, identifying and mitigating security weaknesses.
  • Research & Development: Innovate and develop new tools and methodologies to counter emerging cyber threats.
  • Policy & Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to the development and refinement of Information Security policies, and represent the Commission in various IT security forums to ensure the organization’s cybersecurity posture aligns with industry best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (EQF Level 6) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in digital forensics (EnCase, AccessData), programming (Bash/Shell, Python, Java, C/C++), penetration testing, and malware analysis (IDA, OllyDbg).
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Preferred Skills

  • Languages: Proficiency in French (B1/B2 level) (NOT MANDATORY)
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in digital forensics or a related cybersecurity discipline.
