About the opportunity:
The Facilities Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing capital expenditure (Capex) projects for all DC facilities. This role will involve identifying, evaluating, and implementing projects that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and support long-term business growth. This individual will directly work with contractors, vendors, internal DC Facilities Maintenance departments, and service partners. This role will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the facilities' function across all DCs with a high standard of safety, social responsibility, and quality, and in a cost-effective manner.
The attributes we are looking for:
In collaboration with Logistics Leadership, conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify potential Capex projects that align with the company's strategic objectives- including but not limited to standardization, best practices, cost saving solutions, safety and quality improvement, sustenance, and environmental improvement areas.
- Evaluate the feasibility, profitability, and potential return on investment (ROI) of proposed projects, and develop detailed business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, safety and environmental risk assessments, and financial projections.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and operations, to ensure project execution is aligned with overall business goals
- Develop and manage Capex budgets, ensuring that projects are executed within allocated funds. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Select and manage vendors involved in Capex projects, ensuring that they meet quality, delivery, and cost standards. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to optimize project outcomes.
- In partnership with their manager, develop a standardized preventive maintenance and management program to deliver cost efficiency within the DC network
- Support existing DC’s with construction expansions, or mechanization installations. Conduct facility walk-through inspections to ensure the facility meets minimum standards or identify minimum standards gaps. Sites will be in compliance with Provincial and North American codes.
- Collaborate with cross functional partners to leverage data-driven insights to support opportunities for process optimization and automation within the supply chain.
What you will bring:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, related technical certification or equivalent experience,
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, or engineering.
- Strong understanding of capital budgeting principles and financial analysis techniques
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within tight deadlines.
- Preferred Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
- Strong experience with building management systems, including maintaining automated MHE
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong negotiations skills
- Deep knowledge of Utilities ,Transport & WHS operational systems such as refrigeration
