Position: DevOps Engineer – FinTech
Location: Sydney, Australia (Hybrid/Remote Options Available)

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their close-knit team, playing a key role in bridging the gap between development and operations, and managing infrastructure, automation, and deployments across multiple environments to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure across multiple environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Develop, manage, and optimise CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast and reliable software delivery.
- Provision, configure, and optimise cloud resources to support scalability and performance.
- Containerise and orchestrate applications using Docker and Kubernetes (or similar tools).
- Implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and protection of sensitive data.
- Monitor, log, and analyse system performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks and risks to guarantee reliability and availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues, minimising downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support solution design, delivery, and deployment.
- Drive continuous improvement of DevOps practices, automation, and toolsets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions).
- Practical experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of system monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation.
- Strong grasp of security best practices and compliance considerations in regulated environments (ideally FinTech/financial services).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on minimising downtime.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in banking, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and a shift-left approach to security.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience designing and implementing high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies in multi-region environments.
