About the Role:


I am seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to support and enhance my clients network infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience and learn from seasoned professionals in a dynamic technical environment. The role involves assisting with network operations, troubleshooting, and contributing to infrastructure development.


Salary: Up to £35k


Key Responsibilities:


Network Support

  • Assist in monitoring and resolving network issues.
  • Support deployment and maintenance of network hardware.
  • Learn and apply connectivity solutions suited to business needs.
  • Participate in testing and maintaining business continuity plans.
  • Provide technical support to internal users and collaborate with the IT support team.


Infrastructure Development

  • Contribute to documentation of network infrastructure.
  • Assist in researching and evaluating emerging network technologies.
  • Gain exposure to network design and architecture.
  • Learn about network upgrade paths and planning.


Continuous Improvement

  • Help identify opportunities to enhance network performance and reliability.
  • Support the development of efficient support processes.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving network availability.


Skills & Attributes:


  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, switching).
  • Strong interest in learning network technologies and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with basic network troubleshooting tools.
  • Interest in Cisco networking (CCNA-level knowledge is a plus).
  • Willingness to learn dynamic routing protocols, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Interest in virtualized environments (e.g., VMware).
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
  • Willingness to learn ITIL principles.
  • A degree or equivalent in a technical field (or currently pursuing one) is desirable.
