FinTech Specialist – Bermuda (Relocation Required)

This role requires the successful candidate to relocate to Bermuda. Relocation costs will be covered by the client.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced FinTech Specialist to join their team in Bermuda. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the supervision and development of FinTech and InsurTech innovation in one of the world’s leading financial centres.

The successful candidate will help shape the oversight of cutting-edge technologies, business models, and products – including distributed ledger technology (DLT), AI, digital assets, and other emerging financial innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess emerging InsurTech and FinTech applications in areas such as underwriting, distribution, claims management, and capital management — with a focus on innovations using distributed ledger technology (DLT), AI, and digital assets.
  • Review licensing applications and prudential filings, producing risk and compliance reports, and making recommendations to senior management on the viability and financial health of new business models.
  • Conduct on-site prudential reviews of regulated entities to ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and codes of practice.
  • Lead and support thematic reviews and innovation deep dives, including work with participants in regulatory sandboxes and innovation hubs.
  • Research and analyse global trends in digital assets, DLT, and emerging insurance models (such as blockchain-based underwriting, usage-based insurance, embedded insurance, and automated claims handling).
  • Draft and develop regulatory codes and guidance to address new technologies and risks in the sector.
  • Monitor and interpret distributed ledger transaction data, identifying potential risks such as money laundering, market manipulation, or other systemic issues.
  • Collaborate with internal FinTech analysts and subject matter experts to share intelligence, provide early warning indicators, and conduct predictive analysis on innovative business entities.
  • Advise supervisory teams and contribute to regulatory development efforts relating to InsurTech and FinTech, including AI, blockchain, parametric insurance, and other emerging models.
  • Contribute to special projects and other related work as assigned by management.

Minimum qualification and experience:

  • A master’s degree in business, finance, law, technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional designation).
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in financial services, preferably with exposure to insurance, InsurTech, or digital financial supervision.
  • Direct experience with digital assets and distributed ledger technology.
  • Strong knowledge of international financial regulations and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • A collaborative and diplomatic approach, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
