Job Title : Android Developer

Job Type : Permanent

Location: Edinburgh (typically 2 days in the office per week, 3 days from home)

Salary: £45,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)

I am working with a client who is looking for an experienced Android Developer to join their team and help build a market-leading mobile app. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, developing and iterating new features while taking ownership of the Android app’s full development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop new features for the Android app and take ownership of the development lifecycle, including building, testing, packaging, and deployment.
• Follow mobile architecture best practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
• Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks for unit, end-to-end, and visual regression testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with the app, working with the team to find optimal solutions.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.

Required Skills & Experience :

• Solid experience in Android development, with a strong focus on Kotlin (Java knowledge is a plus).
• Proficiency in integrating third-party APIs and working with networking concepts such as RESTful services and JSON/XML.
• Familiarity with Android SDK, app components, lifecycle management, permissions system, and Jetpack libraries.
• Experience with mobile UI development, including building responsive designs for various screen sizes and adhering to design systems.
• Strong understanding of different testing phases for Android applications, including unit testing, end-to-end testing, and performance optimization.
