Network Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting of our organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of networking concepts, hands-on experience with Cisco devices and a proactive approach to maintaining network performance and security. Responsibilities:

• Plan and deploy network solutions to ensure optimal connectivity across the organization.
• Configure and install routers, switches, firewalls and other network hardware.
• Assist with the integration of new technologies and systems into existing network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve network issues such as connectivity problems, slow performance and hardware failures.
• Use diagnostic tools (ping, tracert, etc.) to identify and solve networking issues.
• Work with other IT teams to resolve complex network-related problems.
• Monitor the health and performance of the network ensuring uptime and availability.
• Perform regular system updates and firmware upgrades to networking equipment.
• Implement and maintain network security protocols and procedures such as firewalls and VPNs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes and procedures.
• Prepare reports on network performance and troubleshooting cases.
• Provide support for end-users who are experiencing network issues.
• Offer guidance and training to other IT team members or users regarding the best network practices.
• Work closely with other departments such as system administrators to ensure network compatibility with other IT systems.
• Participate in meetings to review network needs and ensure that solutions align with company objectives.
• Assist with implementing and managing network security tools like firewalls, intrusion detection systems and anti-virus solutions.
• Maintain best practices for network security to protect against unauthorized access.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification, demonstrating foundational knowledge of networking.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Experience with Cisco network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, etc.).
• Familiarity with network security practices and VPN technologies.
• Basic experience in network troubleshooting and support.
• Experience configuring and maintaining network hardware and devices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in technical support capacity.
• Attention to detail and the ability to document processes thoroughly.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with wireless networking technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud-based networking solutions.
• Familiarity with network management tools and software (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
