Software Engineer – Java & Spring Boot

6-Month Contract

Hybrid – 1 Day per Week Onsite in Amsterdam

Up to €115 per hour – 40 hours per week

With a strong emphasis on data-driven decisions and exceptional digital experiences, they are redefining the future of travel through state-of-the-art platforms and scalable services.

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot to join a high-performing engineering team. The team is focused on the migration of core services from Dropwizard to Spring Boot, improving scalability, maintainability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Lead the migration of services from Dropwizard to Spring Boot, ensuring minimal disruption and high-quality delivery.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and the adoption of best practices across the engineering team.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Monitor and improve the scalability and resilience of production systems in a cloud-native environment.
• Work closely with DevOps and platform teams to ensure seamless CI/CD workflows and infrastructure management.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues as part of a shared team responsibility.

Skills & Experience Required:

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, primarily with Java.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks.
• Prior experience migrating legacy systems or frameworks (e.g., Dropwizard to Spring Boot) is a plus.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, high-availability systems in a microservices architecture.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments with a high level of autonomy.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills – fluent in English (spoken and written).
