The company:


A prominent Hedge Fund with a longstanding and performant commodities business is looking to expand their quantitative trading teams and take on a trader with experience building quantitative strategies and an interest in energy markets across oil, power, gas and LNG. This fund’s commodities business is known for having exceptional research capacities, adopting sophisticated paper trading strategies that are supplemented by their presence in the physical commodities trading.


This role offers a unique opportunity to blend fundamental market knowledge with robust quantitative research and strategy development. The business has an open and collaborative approach so you can expect to have plenty of support in developing your ideas and methodologies. This role offers the chance to progress quickly in the organisation and learn from some of the most successful professionals in the commodities trading industry. This role offers significant compensation and a portion of PnL profits as a discretionary bonus.


The role:


  • Develop and execute quantitative trading strategies in your specific energy market
  • Monitor and adjust algorithmic trading strategies to adapt to market conditions and mitigate risks
  • Track and report trading performance
  • Conduct market analysis to understand supply and demand dynamics, price trends, and geopolitical factors affecting the gas market


Qualifications:


  • Have a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related STEM Field.
  • Have at least two years of experience in one of the following: Natural gas, LNG, Oil or Power trading/analysis.
  • Have a proven track record of a profitable trading strategy.
  • Have excellent skills in quantitative modeling (e.g., statistics, econometrics, applied mathematics, physics)
  • Have great programming skills, preferably in Python and/or C++
  • Are based in or willing to relocate to London.
