CTO - Up to £90K

My client, a growing Sports App is looking for a CTO.

As CTO, you’ll be responsible for setting the technical direction, leading development across mobile platforms, and driving innovation in our streaming technology. You’ll work closely with the CEO/founders to align technology with business goals while managing a lean but high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and implement the company’s technical strategy.
• Lead architecture and development of streaming services across iOS and Android.
• Oversee end-to-end mobile app development and deployment (Swift, Kotlin/Java).
• Hire, mentor, and manage the engineering team.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and security across all systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, and UX.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and emerging technologies.
• Own technical roadmaps, budgets, and delivery timelines.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in a senior tech leadership role (CTO, Head of Engineering, Lead Developer, etc.).
• Deep hands-on experience building and scaling mobile applications (iOS and Android).
• Strong command of Swift, Kotlin, and/or Java for mobile development.
• Solid understanding of video/streaming technologies (HLS, RTMP, WebRTC, etc.).
• Experience with mobile app deployment processes (App Store, Google Play).
• Knowledge of backend systems supporting streaming platforms (Node.js, Firebase, AWS, etc.).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with cross-platform frameworks (e.g. Flutter, React Native).
• Knowledge of analytics tools for mobile and streaming platforms.
• Familiarity with monetisation models like subscriptions, ads, and in-app purchases.
• Prior experience in media/entertainment or social platforms.
