Cyber Security Consultant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Consultant to join our growing IT security team. This role is ideal for individuals with a foundational background in cybersecurity and networking, looking to gain deeper experience in consulting across infrastructure-heavy or telecom-like environments.

You will work alongside experienced security and network professionals to support the design, implementation, and enforcement of security policies, tools and practices to protect critical systems and data.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and documentation of cybersecurity policies, procedures and security guardrails
• Support deployment, maintenance and review of security tools (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, antivirus, IDS/IPS)
• Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to implement basic security configurations and controls
• Participate in vulnerability scans, risk assessments and audit activities
• Monitor security logs and alerts, assist in incident response and escalation processes
• Maintain and update asset inventories, documentation and configuration baselines
• Contribute to compliance reporting, documentation and improvement initiatives
• Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity trends and threats
• Assist with security awareness and training efforts within the organization
• Gain experience with security practices in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Requirements

Must-Have:

• Degree or Diploma in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security operations or network support
• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity concepts: threat types, incident response, risk management, data protection
• Understanding of networking protocols and principles: TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls, encryption
• Familiarity with security tools: SIEM, antivirus, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners
• Good documentation, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication in English

Good to Have:

• Entry-level cybersecurity certifications such as:
• CompTIA Security+
• Cisco CyberOps Associate
• EC-Council ECSA (Associate level)
• Networking certifications like CCNA/CCNP
• Exposure to scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
• Familiarity with big data or NoSQL technologies, Kafka, Spark or ETL pipelines
• Experience with DevSecOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, JIRA, Control-M)
• Experience in compliance or telecom infrastructure environments is a bonus
