Job Title: Senior React Native Engineer (with Native Development Experience)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior React Native Engineer with a strong background in native mobile development (iOS and Android) to lead the rewrite of a critical mobile application. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both React Native and native mobile development, along with the ability to mentor and train a team of developers in adopting new technologies and best practices. This is a remote, one-year contract opportunity to work with an innovative team on a transformative project.

Key Responsibilities:

• App Rewrite: Lead the effort to completely rewrite an existing mobile application using React Native, improving code quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Native Integration: Work closely with the native mobile code (iOS/Android) to ensure seamless integration with React Native and optimize performance for both platforms.
• Mentorship & Training: Provide hands-on mentorship and training to the current development team on React Native, modern mobile development practices, and any new technologies adopted during the rewrite process.
• Architecture & Design: Collaborate with the product and design teams to architect scalable, maintainable, and efficient mobile solutions.
• Code Review & Quality Assurance: Ensure that the development team adheres to best practices for coding standards, security, and performance.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with backend engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers to deliver a high-quality mobile application.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Assist with debugging and resolving technical issues during and after the migration, ensuring smooth deployment and transition.

Skills & Qualifications:

• React Native Expertise: 5+ years of experience with React Native development for iOS and Android platforms.
• Native Development: Strong experience in native mobile development (Java, Kotlin for Android; Swift, Objective-C for iOS).
• App Rewrite Experience: Proven track record in leading app rewrite projects or significant refactors of large mobile applications.
• Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor development teams, including conducting training sessions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Cross-platform Development: Familiarity with cross-platform libraries, tools, and frameworks to optimize React Native app development.
• App Performance Optimization: Deep understanding of performance optimization techniques for mobile applications, including memory management, code splitting, and lazy loading.
• Version Control: Proficiency with Git and common version control workflows (branching, merging, pull requests).
• Agile Methodology: Experience working in Agile teams with tools like JIRA, Trello, or Asana.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across different locations and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) for mobile applications.
• Familiarity with tools like Firebase, Redux, or MobX for state management.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest, Detox, or Appium.
• Experience working in a remote-first team environment.
