Responsibilities:

  • Design and continuously evolve a robust cybersecurity architecture framework that supports the organisation’s business goals and aligns with its overarching technology strategy.
  • Oversee the architecture, implementation, and integration of security measures across all technology domains — including network infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, and data assets.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to embed security principles into enterprise architecture and throughout project delivery lifecycles.
  • Perform architecture assessments and security risk evaluations for both new initiatives and existing technology environments.
  • Establish and promote security standards, frameworks, and best practices to guide the secure design and implementation of IT systems.
  • Lead and develop the cybersecurity architecture team by providing strategic direction, technical mentorship, and performance oversight.
  • Collaborate closely with the cybersecurity operations team to ensure that security designs are actionable, monitored, and resilient against emerging threats.
  • Contribute to incident response efforts by offering architectural guidance and technical solutions to contain, resolve, and prevent security breaches.
  • Manage vendor relationships and partnerships for security technologies and services, including evaluation, procurement, contract negotiation, and service performance management.
  • Oversee the cybersecurity architecture function’s budget planning, cost control, and resource management.

What you need to succeed:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent credentials.
  • Solid, hands-on experience in cybersecurity architecture, ideally within the retail industry or similarly complex environments.
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and enterprise architectural methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, SABSA).
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing end-to-end security solutions across multiple layers of technology.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to align cybersecurity initiatives with broader business goals and translate them into practical architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
