Android Developer

Akkodis is partnered with one of Canada's leading banks to recruit several Android Developers to join a growing Digital Mobile team here in Toronto to help shape the next generation of its flagship banking and rewards apps.

As part of the mobile team, you'll be responsible for shipping features & supporting an app that reaches 8 million+ active users and move billions of dollars daily.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, and ship native Android features from concept to production using Kotlin and modern Android libraries.
• Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate development, testing, and code quality.
• Conduct technical discovery, impact analysis, and solution design for fresh user journeys.
• Champion automated testing with JUnit, Robolectric, and Espresso.
• Uphold coding standards through PR reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate in two‑week sprints, demoing progress to stakeholders ranging from UX to enterprise architects.

Must‑Have Experience

• 2+ years building Kotlin‑based Android apps (plus 3 years in Java).
• Deep knowledge of OOP, Android app architecture, and common design patterns (MVVM, Repository, etc.).
• RESTful API integration and offline‑first strategies.
• Automated unit/UI testing and CI pipelines.
• Solid communication skills—comfortable translating architecture to non‑technical partners.
• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

Nice‑to‑Have

• Jetpack Compose and Material 3 UI builds.
• Secure mobile dev: OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Android Keystore.
• Accessibility‑first mindset and WCAG familiarity.
• Exposure to AI code assistants (GitHub Copilot, etc.).
