Product Manager for Remote SW Platforms

Do you want to lead and develop as a Product Manager within Remote and Autonomous (R&A) in Kongsberg Maritime?

An exciting opportunity waits you as Product Manager managing Remote and Autonomous (R&A) SW Platforms at Kongsberg Maritime. In this role, you will be part of the Remote and Autonomous Product team working with internal and external stakeholders in managing SW platform capabilities enabling remote and autonomous vessel operations from the remote operating centre. You will be creating SW platform requirements and release plans based on the customer and stakeholder needs and requirements.

You operate with a high degree of independency, but in tight collaboration with customers and multiple internal stakeholders.

Basic information

• Location: Turku (Lemminkäisenkatu 32).
• Remote work: Hybrid, remote work is possible up to 2 days per week.
• Travelling: Occasional travel to Norway, approximately 10% of working time.
• Employment type: Full time, permanent position.

Organization

You will be part of the Remote & Autonomous Systems unit at Kongsberg Maritime, working within the product management organization led by Head of Product, Aarre Mäkelä. The role is within a dynamic and evolving team that includes product managers, engineers, and project leads, all collaborating to deliver high-impact software solutions.

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders such as delivery projects, engineering teams, and other product lines, especially those based in Norway, to gather insights, define priorities, and ensure delivery alignment. While the majority of your work will be internally driven, you’ll also maintain touchpoints with key external customers.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Leads the hands-on product management of Remote SW platform which provides an interface to connect Vessel functions to Remote Operation Center
• Collects, creates and refines requirements for Remote SW platform
• Manages Remote SW platform roadmap
• Collaborates with relevant internal entities like product lines and groups and works together with technology and engineering teams to implement prioritized requirements into software platform development
• Drives platform integration requirements in R&A context (how we integrate to vessel networks)
• Contributes to the management of cybersecurity requirements and implementation planning within own product area

Requirements:

• Experience in SW Product management
• Technical understanding and experience about (maritime) automation and control systems. Knowledge about remotely operated and/or autonomous systems is a plus
• Good understanding of APIs and their application in software products
• An ability to move between product details and the big picture
• Tech-savvy mindset and ability to thrive in a complex and uncertain environment
• Master / Bachelor of Science in relevant field
• Fluent communication skills in English and Norwegian/Swedish/Finnish is a plus
