Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who doesn’t mind going back in time, who is OK working without the aid of modern frameworks and who enjoys working with older versions of PHP – specifically, PHP 5.4. This role is supporting our largest client and their highly customized version of our software. You’ll be building new features and refactoring code in their environment.

You’ll be a part of our team but also working closely with our client’s team. The role requires patience, diplomacy and tact. This is well-suited to someone who is able to give good advice but who is not attached to whether that advice is taken or not. The ideal candidate is comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities.

Skills & Requirements

• 5+ years experience using PHP 5.4 and later
• Experience building SaaS products
• Experience with HTML/CSS
• Experience with jQuery, MySQL 8 and later
• Understanding of software architecture and software design principles
• Experience with Docker specifically or containerization generally
• Understanding accessibility and security
• Integration with third-party services
• Implementing unit tests
• Comfortable with manual deployments and a lack of front or back-end frameworks
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Passionate about producing elegant, maintainable code
• Computer science degree or equivalent experience
