Senior PHP Back-end engineer (Fully remote)

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a project for a US based client in the travel industry.

We're looking for a Senior engineer with PHP experience to join Overloop. We are a close-knit small team, committed to quality code, processes that work, honesty, and seeing things through to completion. A typical working day will involve a 20 minute catch up call to kick off the day, reviewing requirements and/or bug reports, coding, discussing over Slack and Google Hangouts, creating a github PR, getting the PR reviewed and seeing your code get to production to make a difference for our clients.

Overloop is a UK based company, and our team currently works remotely from around Europe. We meet up a few times a year in a European city for a week to get some face time, eat great food and generally catch up.

Are you the right candidate?

We are looking for a Senior PHP Engineer with the following experience:

• PHP, 4+ years
• Laravel, 2+ years
• Strong communication skills
• Experience working with integration with external API’s
• Experience of designing and implementing data model changes

Experience in the following areas would be a benefit:

• Postgres
• Computer Science degree
• Team Lead
• Working with a US timezone crossover
• Working for large teams / companies

Soft skills

• Proactive mindset
• Problem solving

Approximate salary range / contractors equivalent - €40-45 ($46-52) per hour - depending on experience.

The interview process will look like:

• You will have a 30min - 1h call where you will be asked show some PHP code that you have previously written and that you can screen-share during the interview and talk through (you do not need to make live changes to the code or run it therefore do not need server /database set up) - check your emails (including spam) to make sure you haven't missed the invite. It will be 1h long and is also an opportunity to discuss your experience and hear a bit more about the role.
• If we think you are a good fit, the last interview will take place with our client and you will have the opportunity to ask more questions, and demonstrate your skills.
