The CISO Office at Stater keeps the organization cyber safe! Positioned in the second line and reporting to the CFRO, we work closely with IT, the IT Fundamentals Security team, and Risk Management to enhance our cybersecurity posture. A fantastic challenge in a dynamic environment.

Who are we?

Within Stater, we develop and provide mortgage services and platforms for external lenders. With our products and services, we manage 40% of the mortgages in the Netherlands. What are you going to do?

In this second-line Risk role, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining Stater’s Cybersecurity Risk and Control Framework as part of the overall Stater Risk Framework.

You will play a key role in setting up and expanding the CISO Office’s Risk Advisory function.

• You define and monitor cybersecurity architecture, conduct risk assessments, and provide advisory input for IT projects, processes, and operational changes.
• You advise on security implementation risks within Stater's business processes and projects, monitor their status, and report to the CISO and senior management.
• You support the first-line IT and security risk team with risk activities aligned with defined priorities.
• You act as a central liaison and ensure strong connections with various stakeholders and the architecture board.

Who are we looking for?

The CISO is looking for a hands-on medior professional who enjoys building and shaping a cybersecurity function from the ground up. This second-line role is ideal for someone who takes initiative and understands how a role evolves to the next level. Thought leadership and pragmatism are essential.

This is a small but growing team, offering real opportunities for growth. You should be able to set your priorities and help define the strategy and roadmap for both risk and security architecture capabilities, always in close collaboration with the CISO.

Broad knowledge and experience in IT and security practices, cybersecurity risk management, and security architecture are a strong plus. Communication skills are key, especially since you will also interact with our clients.

Familiarity with control frameworks, risk standards, best practices, and financial sector regulations is desirable. You will also coordinate reports on Stater’s risk profile across various levels.

In addition, you have:

• 7+ years of experience in a similar role in other organizations
• Certifications are a plus (CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001)
• Broad experience with cybersecurity risk assessments
